2021 SCL:AP-Q1 – Practise Sessions in RS21’s for Qualifier 1 at Mornington

Entries are coming in from both clubs & privateers for the upcoming Mornington event & subject to boarder restrictions it looks like we should have teams from Tasmania, South Australia & Victoria, however it is still hoped for WA to join in.

With teams onboard, thoughts go towards training & practise for the upcoming event to be ready for the first race.  As the RS21 is a new class to Australia teams are getting practise in a number of similar boats including, SB20’s, Elliot’s, etc.  The format of racing is umpired short course fleet racing, & it is easy for teams to step straight in without a need to learn a new set of rules & tactics for Match or Teams Racing, however getting familiar with the boats is the key to avoid simple boat handling issues that are costly in these tight races.  Thus, the following practise sessions are being offer to competitors at two locations:

Mornington Yacht Club

  • Free 2hr practise session (first 12 entered teams) –  at Mornington Yacht Club on Friday 5th February.  Session times will be 10am-12pm & 1pm-3pm.  The first 12 teams entered will receive further details & book a session time.
  • Charter of an RS21 – the boats are available for private charter to teams at $250 / half day, $350 / day at Mornington Yacht Club from 28th to 4th January.

Royal Brighton Yacht Club

  • Charter of an RS21 – the boats are available for private charter to teams for $250 / half day, $350 / day at Royal Brighton Yacht Club from 14th to 30th January.
