Entries are open for the first leg (originally Leg 3) of the 2021 VIC Sailing League. With restrictions easing we are excited to finally get on the water and launch the 2022 VIC Sailing League, kicking off with the single day event hosted by Royal Yacht Club of Victoria on Sunday 28th November.
Limited entries (8) are open to Victorian Clubs to field teams of 2 male & 2 females sailors to race for and represent their club in this supplied boat RS21 short course fleet racing format.
The Notice of Race and entry process for this first event can be found HERE (and attached) and the number of teams is limited to 8.
The reduced 2021 VIC Sailing League will comprise of 2 Legs being:
- VIC-SL Leg 1 – 28th Nov at RYCV
- VIC-SL Leg 2 – 18th Dec at BYC (BYC Youth Invitational J70 Regatta – separate NOR)
The top 4 teams from each Leg will qualify for the 2021 VIC Sailing League Final to be hosted as a part of the 2022 Festival of Sails:
- VIC-SL FINAL – 22nd Jan at RGYC
From this VIC-Sailing League Final the top U22 & Open teams will automatically qualify for their respective SAILING Champions League: Asia Pacific- FINAL to race against clubs from across our region, scheduled to be held:
- SAILING Champions League: Asia Pacific – U22 FINAL (19/20 March @ Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club)
- SAILING Champions League: Asia Pacific – OPEN FINAL (26/27 March @ Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club)
For all other clubs across Australia, qualification for Newcastle will be through a separate SCL: Asia Pacific Qualifier scheduled to be held as a part of the Festival of Sails in Geelong on 25th/26th of January 2022 (details to be announced soon).
If you have any questions please email me directly and please note that this will be the start of something bigger, with the 2022 VIC Sailing League expanding to create a regular (once per month) club vs club competition open to all clubs large and small to compete on a level playing field in this “rock-up and race” model.

ABOUT THE SCL FORMAT
Typical NSL events include a round-robin Qualifying Series of up to 45 races. Teams rotate through the boats in each flight so that each team competes against every other team and sails in every boat. The top 4 teams from the Qualifying Series compete in the Final Series.
